Presenting a Program
Join a conversation with Carole Whitelock
Voice Workshops
Marilyn Bodycoat, voice coach to the professionals, will focus on how you speak, rather than what you say. Have fun, practice and get tips for improvement - because Speech Matters!
Sound Editing
Practical, hands on workshops to learn editing techniques. Great for producers and presenters who want to produce program segments or whole programs.
Note: pre-bookings for the practical sessions will be required as numbers will be restricted
Fundraising
Community broadcasters from around the state share ideas and strategies to raise funds for stations from sources other than sponsorship.
Live Recording Overview
Understand the benefits of creating your own music content, including:
– Accessing CBF and state government grant funding to create local music content
– Building your station profile as a skilled organisation that makes quality recordings
– Creating a pathway for young people to get involved with your station
– Creating an audio history of your community’s musical output
The overview session won’t train you to do live recording, but it will show you what can be achieved with the equipment we have available for loan.
Live Recording theory and practical
For people who want to commit to learning how to use the equipment effectively and develop basic recording skills. These sessions aren’t about mixing a live band for a public performance in front of an audience, you will simply learn how to capture a clear, clean multi-channel recording of a band, artist, orchestra, choir, etc., so that it can be later produced into a finished recording.
Note: pre-bookings for the practical sessions will be required.
Broadcasting sports events
How to get the best from outside broadcasts of local footy, soccer, netball etc.
Equipment bank overview
Find out about each piece of equipment in the SACBA equipment bank, how it can benefit your station and how you can borrow it.
For boards and station workers with no or little technical knowledge.
Broadcast Chain overview
“why do our announcers sound quiet and the music distorted”
“why isn’t our station as loud as the commercial stations”
“why can’t we be heard very well in the next town”.
Develop a better understanding of how you can improve your on-air sound by taking a non-technical look into how sounds from the studio make it out to the listeners’ ears. Better plan for redundancies and equipment failure.
Broadcast Chain Practical
Get your hands on the SACBA equipment bank. Develop skills in basic operations of transmitters, exciters, STL and compressors, so you have the confidence when you need to make use of the equipment bank in an emergency. Train in the use of the Bandscanner so you can align your broadcast chain.
